Jane A. Bassett Recognized by Super Lawyers®

The team at Bassett Murray Law Group is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Jane A. Bassett has been selected to the 2024 Michigan Super Lawyers list. Each year, no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.

What is Super Lawyers?

Super Lawyers is an organization founded in 1991 to help clients find the best qualified attorneys when they need assistance in a particular geographic area. Now part of the legal empire of Thomson Reuters, the rating service evaluates the work of lawyers practicing who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in more than 70 practice areas.

The service selects attorneys for inclusion on lists each year using a multiphase process that is so unique and specialized that they were awarded a patent on it. Their aim is to produce a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.

How Lawyers are Selected for Inclusion in Super Lawyers Lists

Before an attorney can be chosen for recognition by Super Lawyers, they must first be nominated. Most of the nominations come from attorneys practicing in the same region who nominate candidates they have admired after seeing them in action. Clients and professionals who work with the legal field can also nominate candidates.

Once an attorney has been nominated, the research team at Super Lawyers conducts a detailed evaluation of their work, considering factors such as:

• Experience in the field
• Special licenses and certifications
• Community service and pro bono legal service
• Honors, awards, and other achievements
• Significant transactions, verdicts, and settlements achieved for clients
• Leadership within the firm and the legal community
• Scholarly writings and presentations
• Education and other background

The research team assigns points for each factor to create a score for each candidate. Then candidates are evaluated by a select panel of the highest rated attorney practicing in their field. After all evaluations are complete, 5% of the attorneys reviewed are officially announced as the selections for the Super Lawyers list for that year.
